Last week I went with some students to go see the latest Marvel movie in theaters. For me the last time I was a movie theater was when the live action Lion King movie came out. I’ll admit I am a huge Marvel fan, this year alone I’ve been on pins and needles about content being released. One thing that I’ve noticed about these superhero movies, is that the hero fights to protect the one(s) he/she loves, while the villain chooses to target them. How valuable the villain sees that person, that they know who to go after to bring the hero to their knees. Superman has Lois Lane, Ironman had Pepper Pots, Spider-Man has Aunt May and Mary Jay, and to bring this to a Biblical standpoint Jesus has you. Yes, you are so valuable to the Lord even when you feel as if you are not. Paul says this in the book of Ephesians
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
In the NLT he’s says you are his Masterpiece, and that has a tremendous value to it. It reminds me of a quote by Charles Spurgeon “Consider how precious the soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.” God has placed so much value in you. On your job, in school, at home, even walking around the store you have so much value. I love this because it reminds us that we are not the heroes of our story, we are the ones that the enemy comes after in attempt to get over on the hero. I thank God for sending our hero, John 3:16
““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
The one that fights the battle for us.
Exodus 14:14
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.””
Exodus 14:14 ESV
You were given value when God created mankind, the enemy fights for you, but God fights your battles.
