Motivation Monday with Pastor ShaVaree {Nov 22, 2021}

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening whenever you are reading this. I’m so excited to be bringing this motivational to you all today. As we are gearing up for Thanksgiving this week, one thing I am extremely grateful for is being here in La Porte, apart of this congregation, and on staff as your Student Pastor.

I was talking with a great friend not too long ago, now this friend can be a bit wild and that’s what makes them perfect. They told me they thought about toning themselves down, or not being around the Church they attended. They spent some time at the alter and was told by the Lord to be who he has called them to be, who he wants them to be. Church family my motivation for you all today is that you be exactly who God has called you to be, not a carbon copy of someone else, or something else that you are not.

Years ago, I thought I needed to be someone else. I was battling my identity, all of this came from what others were saying. It wasn’t until one night where the Holy Spirit said “I don’t want the person you’re trying to be, I want who I’m calling you to be.” From that day on, I started walking in who God called me to be. The enemy did not stop there, he used others to tell me that I have too much energy, that who I am will never be heard by others, that the passion I carry is too much for others and I should tone it down. Again I was heartbroken by this, I wanted to quit but Jesus reminded me of where he brought me from. He reminded me of the identity crisis he freed me from, John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” In the words of my favorite artist, Kevin Elijah Burgess “I am as free as my hair, cut it or comb it forget it. Ima do what I been called to do not what’s expected.” You are called to be you, you are called to walk in the you God has called you to be, anything else is disobedience.

John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”

‭‭

I’ll leave you with this, Wednesday morning during our prayer time, the Lord simply said this “Do you boo boo” meaning be who you are, be who I called to be. If you get anything out of this, it’s that God blessed the you he has called you to be not the you that you pretend to be.
